Fire at school garden in Palermo sparked by firecracker thrown at tree

They would have thrown a firecracker at a tree at the Peppino Impastato school in the Noce district of Palermo. The tree caught fire and the fire brigade intervened to extinguish the flames that broke out in via Crociferi. Some residents reported seeing a boy throwing a firecracker towards the school’s garden.

After the explosion, flames broke out. The students, accompanied by teachers and school staff, gathered in an outdoor space of the school to avoid possible smoke inhalation. The police intervened.
