“Finally here are the first signs of a slowdown”

Like every Monday morning, the data released on Sunday by the Civil Protection Department on the Covid situation on the island arrive. And they are very important data. “The week just ended – underlines the head of the Statistical Office of the Municipality of Palermo, Girolamo D’anneo – showed, after nine weeks of increases, the first signs of a slowdown in the spread of Covid in Sicily: the new positive and new admissions to intensive care, and the number of hospitalized patients (ordinary and intensive care) increased less than the previous week “. Here are all the numbers In the week just ended, the new positives in Sicily amounted to 8,600, 7.6% less than the previous week, when an increase of 2.5% was still recorded. The ratio between positive swabs and swabs performed also decreased, from 7.3% to 6.6%. The number of current positives is 28,462, 1,038 more than the previous week. There were 27,497 people in home isolation, 987 more than the previous week. Other data: 965 patients are hospitalized, of which 120 are in intensive care. Compared to the previous week, they increased by 51 units (ICU patients increased by 12 units). In the week just ended, 69 new admissions to intensive care were registered (4.2% less than the 72 of the previous week). The number of healed (247,552) increased by 7,431 units compared to the previous week. The percentage of healed out of the total positive was 87.6% (87.7% last Sunday). The number of deaths recorded in the week was 131 (compared to 95 in the previous week). Due to some recounting, the provisional number of dead people attributable to the week just ended is however equal to 95. Overall, the dead people are 6,445, and the lethality rate (deaths / total positive) is equal to 2.3% (as last week). Finally, the total hospitalized represent 3.4% of the current positives (those hospitalized in intensive care 0.4%).
