Federico Basile was born in Messina on June 19, 1977, he is an Italian politician, mayor of Messina since June 16, 2022.
He graduated in Economics and Commerce and has been a Chartered Accountant since 2005.

Federico Basile

Born on 19 June 1977 in Messina, Federico Basile graduated in economics from the University of Messina in 2001. In 2005 he obtained the qualification to the profession of accountant and auditor.

From 2013 to 2018 he was part of the College of Auditors of the University of Messina, while in 2016 and 2017 he held the role of expert in marketing and local economy at the municipality of Montalbano Elicona. As of February 2020, he has assumed both the position of Chairman of the evaluation team of the metropolitan city of Messina and that of Director General of the City of Messina.

Political activity

In 2022, Federico Basile stood as a candidate for mayor of Messina for the local elections, forming a coalition with the Sicilia Vera party, led by the resigning mayor Cateno De Luca, along with eight civic lists and the Prima l’Italia list, affiliated to the League for Salvini Premier in Sicily. He won in the first round, thanks to the regional electoral law requiring 40% of the votes for the direct election of the mayor, obtaining 45.56% of the votes and a total of 44,937 preferences. On 16 June he was officially proclaimed mayor of Messina.
