FBI Deputy Director in Palermo, Paul Abbate praises Carabinieri for capturing Messina Denaro

In the context of the fruitful and consolidated collaboration between the Carabinieri and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Paul Abbate, the agency’s Deputy Director, visited the provincial command of the Carabinieri in Palermo. Welcoming the American delegation at the Carini barracks was the provincial commander, General Luciano Magrini, along with the heads of the local investigative branches and the Special Operational Group. General Magrini presented to the Deputy Director the synergy between the territorial branches of the Carabinieri and the special units, focusing in particular on the activities of the First Response Teams and the rescue operative teams in the fight against terrorism, as well as the canine units and bomb squads. Abbate, after praising the work of the Carabinieri, congratulated the Italian investigators, on behalf of the federal service leadership, for the important result achieved in the fight against the Sicilian Cosa Nostra with the capture of the top fugitive Matteo Messina Denaro.
