Father’s complaint prompts child with Down syndrome to participate in children’s rights march

The small Ruben will participate the day after tomorrow in the procession through the streets of Syracuse on the occasion of World Children’s Rights Day, which was celebrated last Monday. The municipal administration communicated this to Ruben’s father, Antonio Gallitto, who had denounced the absurdity of denying his son’s participation in a march for children’s rights. The Education office had immediately approved the request but noted that the lateness of the request did not allow for the complex procedure required by the municipal regulations. Since the march was moved to Thursday, the Office communicated the necessary financial coverage, in addition to the existing curriculum, for the operator’s assistance during the entire event. Such recognition has never happened in the past, demonstrating the Office’s sensitivity, timeliness, and attention to the other parties involved (school institution and social cooperative providing the service) invested with specific competencies in the authorization process.
