Fatal incident on a ship in Salerno, one dead and one seriously injured from Messina
An accident occurred at the Salerno port, resulting in one fatality and one person injured. The incident involved two maritime workers who were aboard a ship bound for Messina. The two were reportedly hit by a truck that was on the same vessel. The local prosecutor is investigating the case. The Port Authority reports that the accident was caused by a malfunction of the cable connecting the trailer to the vehicle, causing it to disconnect. Officials from the Central Tyrrhenian Port Authority, including the president and the Security manager, are present at the scene. The victims are believed to be from Messina. The deceased victim and the seriously injured colleague are both employees of Caronte & Tourist, according to Gerardo Arpino of the CGIL labor union in Salerno. Arpino emphasizes the need to improve work safety measures and expresses condolences to the victims’ families.
