Explanation of the article:
A fatal accident occurred on the A18 Messina-Catania motorway during the night. Around 2:30 am, at km 69.200, on the deceleration lane of the Acireale junction, there was a strong impact between two vehicles (a Skoda and a Hyundai Kona). The driver of the Skoda, 46-year-old Salvatore Papa, tragically died on the spot.
To allow for rescue operations and investigations, the motorway junction remained closed until 7 am this morning. Personnel from the Giardini Naxos Subsection, including Commander Giovanni Spadaro, as well as firefighters from Acireale, emergency services, and Cas, were on the scene to conduct investigations.
