Last days of the year 2022 marred by a another fatal accident. A man lost his life yesterday afternoon in via San Paolo, in the territory of Gravina of Catania. The mayor of the Municipality announced the death of the man who, in a post on Facebook, expressed his condolences: “The mayor Massimiliano Giammusso and the municipal administration of Gravina di Catania, express all their condolences for the disappearance of the ‘man who lost his life in the tragic accident in via San Paolo“, we read.
The 118 personnel arrived on the spot who could not do anything but ascertain the man’s death and the police who are investigating the accident. The dynamics of the accident are not yet clear. At the moment, no other details of the accident are known regarding the vehicles involved and the identity of the deceased person.
Due to the accident, the road was temporarily closed to traffic in both directions, only to be reopened in the evening.
On social media, many citizens have underlined the danger of the road, where accidents have occurred in the past as well, asking the mayor for measures to avoid new tragedies. “I ask Mr. Mayor instead of putting the bumps in the streets where they are only needed to break the cars to instead fill via San Paolo where no one respects the speed limit and the pedestrian traffic light (working) in front of the Rodari”, writes Antonella. “The mayor, in addition to making villas, always welcome, parking bollards and bumps to restore the asphalt of via San Paolo which is really embarrassing, looks like Swiss cheese. The mayor knows that there are also two-wheeled vehicles that contribute to ecological mobility while many don’t care? It would be nice if such chasms didn’t remain dry!”, adds Daniela.
