Tommy is no longer here, his friends still struggle to believe it. Under his house, in via Salerno, in Carini, there is a continuous coming and going of people in tears. Tommaso Di Giacomo, 22 years old, lost his life on Friday afternoon, on the road to Trapani, in the stretch that runs alongside Buseto Palizzolo. The whole community is in shock for another young victim of the road. The investigations are still ongoing to accurately reconstruct the dynamics of the events but there seem to be few doubts, based on the initial findings: the young man died after his car crashed violently into another vehicle and then ended its journey against a wall and a public lighting pole. Law enforcement also acquired the surveillance camera footage covering the area of the accident to ascertain the dynamics.

Tommaso, originally from the capital, had been living in Carini for some time. He had attended middle school at the Calderone Institute and then enrolled at the Pareto Institute in Palermo, the same school still attended by Simone Gnoffo, the eighteen-year-old who died in an accident shortly after the young man from Carini.

Social media is flooded with messages of condolences, especially friends who do not hesitate to show their virtual affection. A group photo stands out showing Tommy surrounded by a dozen friends inside a local restaurant: “Despite everything, we will carry in our hearts both the beautiful and the ugly moments, we will carry in our hearts the laughter, the evenings, the affection and the indelible memories that have bound us.
