A packed church in Biancavilla, in the province of Catania, bid farewell to Vincenzo Tomasello, a twenty-year-old who lost his life in a car accident on Montagna Street. Dozens of friends, relatives, and acquaintances said their goodbyes to the young man who was riding his motorcycle with a friend, who was severely injured, on the day of the tragedy. The funeral at Annunziata Church was officiated by Father Giosuè Messina, who described Vincenzo as “a generous, kind, and curious boy. A heart of gold, just as a young person’s should be in the prime of their years.” The priest then recalled Vincenzo’s experience at the Don Pino Puglisi oratory, where he volunteered and dedicated himself to others. The investigation into the accident is still ongoing: the collision occurred with a car driven by a girl who did not sustain serious injuries, while prayers continue for the 24-year-old who is hospitalized with a guarded prognosis at Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania.
