Fabrizio De André’s “Buona Novella” performed in Sicilian dialect at Segesta

Fabrizio De André’s “La buona novella” translated into Sicilian will be the closing concert event of the Segesta Theater Festival in 2023. Palermo songwriter Francesco Giunta has adapted the famous masterpiece of the great artist from Genoa and it will be performed on Sunday, August 27th at the ancient theater of the Segesta Archaeological Park. The show will be premiered in a new “concert” version. The event will be supported by the Fabrizio De André Onlus Foundation, with the presence of Dori Ghezzi and Arnaldo Bolsi representing the foundation. The new production includes a prologue featuring fragments from De André’s works, preparing the audience for the Sicilian version of the “cantata” from the apocryphal Gospels, including songs like “Cantico dei drogati” and “Si chiamava Gesù”. The musical direction and percussion will be handled by Roman musician Alberto Laruccia, who is also the author of the new musical adaptation.
