Exit Italy condemns Coveri after the death of a woman from Catania in Switzerland

#Catania
The Prosecutor’s Office of Catania has requested a three-year and four-month prison sentence for Emilio Coveri, president of the Exit-Italy association, for incitement to suicide and for the use of euthanasia in the case of a 47-year-old woman from the province of Catania who died in Switzerland in 2019. The trial is taking place before the Court of Appeals following the appeal by Deputy Prosecutor Ignazio Fonzo and substitute prosecutor Andrea Brugaletta against the acquittal verdict issued on November 10, 2021, by Judge Marina Rizza. The central issue of the trial is the use of euthanasia in a Zurich clinic by a woman who was not terminally ill but suffered from depression and Eagle syndrome. The prosecution alleges that Coveri influenced the woman’s decision and exploited her vulnerability to promote his controversial ideas about assisted suicide as a solution to physical and moral suffering in life. The trial will resume on June 28.
