The Festino di Santa Rosalia allows the people of Palermo to experience a long weekend.
And, fortunately, there is no shortage of appointments on the island.

FESTIVALS AND REVIEWS

TO Palermoto absolutely see the remastered version in 4K of the video mapping “Exstasis”, the great multimedia and immersive show projected on the walls and among the marbles of the church of Santa Caterina d’Alessandria, in Piazza Bellini.

Presentations of books, theatrical events, musical performances (all free) without ever losing the thread of dialogue with the territory and its protagonists are scheduled, from 12 to 17 July, in Terms Imerese for the second edition of the Himera Art Festival.

On the weekend, from 15 to 17 July, the Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia and La grande opera in jazz await you.

Do not miss the appointment, from 15 to 17 July, with Le Orestiadi di Gibellina, which brings to the stage a weekend of shows in the name of memory and, in particular, the desire not to forget the terrible massacres of the mafia, of which this year marks their thirtieth anniversary.

Those who want a trip dedicated to craftsmanship and Made in Italy treasures can stop at Ortigia where, from 15 to 24 July, “Artieri Mercato Creativo” arrives, the first Festival of Arts and Crafts in Sicily now in its third edition.

APERITIFS AND DINNERS

The weekend is the right time to indulge in a few exceptions to the rule, especially at the table.
Make way for aperitifs with friends or with your partner, in the company of good food, cocktails and even beautiful live music.

From Tuesday 12 July, after a long period of inactivity, the Tonnara Bordonaro di Vergine Maria reopened its doors and is reborn as a place of excellence for good food and for the entertainment of Palermo.

Events and concerts make the historic terrace of Palazzo Fatta shine again, the splendid building that overlooks Piazza Marina in Palermo, thanks to the summer billboard of the “Tatum Art Summer Jazz“, the review conceived and created by the artistic director, Toti Cannistraro.

In particular, on the weekend, the concerts of Bernstein / Di Leone quartet (July 15), Michael Rosen quartet (July 16) and Danilo Rea / Luciano Biondini (July 17) await you.

A chiccha not to be missed, Saturday 16 July, is the anticipation of the “Castelbuono Jazz Festival”, whose celebrations of 25 years of life bring Sergio Cammariere in Castelbuonowhich he presents in the wake of his Piano Nudo, the latest album, entirely instrumental and with modern jazz sounds.

Returning to Palermo, Sunday 17 July, in the Church of Santa Maria della Pietà, the second (free) appointment awaits you with the Baroque Music Festival.

Those who have thought of taking a trip to the Trapani area, from 1 July to 31 August, the guided tours in Segesta are back – “From the Elimi to the Middle Ages“: a tour immersive in the entire site lasting over two hours (plus the various movements).
Ideal not only for single visitors but also for families.

TO Palermo visits to Palazzo Steri continue (every day from 9.00 to 20.00) to discover the history of the city: an unmissable opportunity for those who want to immerse themselves, even if for a few hours, in the Middle Ages of courtiers and ladies.

Moving to Monrealeinstead, it is possible to experience the 4.0 visits with the latest generation technology that offers an immersive show of the Benedictine Cloister (currently undergoing restoration).

EXHIBITIONS

On the occasion of the Feast of Santa Rosaliafrom 13 to 24 July, the great collective exhibition “Ex voto.
Artisti per Rosalia” was born – between Palazzo Costantino and Palazzo di Napoli, organized by the Foundation “Le Vie dei Tesori”, and curated by Andrea Guastella, from an idea by Roberto Bilotti Ruggi d’Aragona, patron, promoter of the initiative and owner of the two buildings shared with the community.

On the centenary of the birth of the great intellectual Pier Paolo Pasolini, the exhibition “Pasolini Clandestinus” is set up at Palazzo dei Normanni, which can be visited until 27 July in the usual tour itinerary.
Almost thirty works, chosen from those created over the last twenty years by the artist Franco Accursio Gulino, interact with the precious paintings and stuccos of the two rooms of the Palazzo dei Normanni.
