The European Commission has approved a €2 billion State aid scheme from Italy to support STMicroelectronics (St) in the construction and operation of an integrated chip production facility for silicon carbide (SiC) power devices in Catania. The measure, Brussels highlights, “will strengthen the security of supply, resilience, and digital sovereignty of Europe in semiconductor technologies, in line with the objectives set out in the European Chips Act.”
