Etna’s eruption forces closure of Catania airport

Mount Etna erupts and the Catania airport closes. The airport management company announced this morning that, due to the volcanic activity of Mount Etna, airspace sectors C1 and B3 will be closed until 1:00 PM today (Monday, August 14th). Arrivals and departures are therefore prohibited. The company advises passengers to only go to the airport after consulting with their airline. For information on diverted or cancelled flights, it is best to contact the airlines or check the airport’s website and social media profiles for real-time updates.
