Eolie: Third day of bad weather complicates transportation to Salina- Controversy arises

The third day of bad weather in the Aeolian Islands has resulted in rough seas and cancelled ferry services. The high winds from the west have caused the hydrofoils to Naples, Palermo, Messina, and Milazzo to remain grounded. Only the Siremar ship from Città Mamertina and Lipari managed to depart. However, there has been controversy surrounding the isolation of Salina and the limited ferry connections. The Vice Mayor of Malfa, Giuseppe Siracusano, criticized the Caronte & Tourist-Siremar company for abandoning passengers headed to Salina in Lipari. The company defended itself, stating that it provided alternative connections to most of the islands, except Salina, due to unsafe conditions. There has been a back-and-forth between the Vice Mayor and the company, with accusations of neglect and ostracism towards Salina. The company argues that the decisions of the ship captains were based on safety concerns.
