Enna students protest school mergers again

Students from high schools in Enna continue their protest against the downsizing of the schools. After occupying the school, students from Farinato High School have requested a meeting with the regional education assessor, Mimmo Turano, to establish a technical committee regarding the school downsizing regulation. The students argue that the current regulation does not take into account the fact that Enna is a mountainous area, and therefore should have separate legislation that guarantees the autonomy of schools with a stable population for at least five years. They oppose the merger of their school with others and argue that each school has the right to autonomy and representation. They believe that merging thousands of students into one institution would result in the loss of individual school identities and inefficient management of different school needs. They are asking for a visit to the schools to understand the different realities of each institution.
