Edison ventures into offshore wind energy with Wind Energy Pozzallo.

Edison has signed an agreement with Blunova (Carlo Maresca Group), a company active in the development and construction of renewable energy plants, for the joint development of a floating offshore wind project in Sicily. Under the agreement, Edison enters Wind Energy Pozzallo by acquiring 50% of its shares. Wind Energy Pozzallo holds a project for the development of a floating offshore wind farm with an installed capacity of 975 MW off the coast of Pozzallo in Sicily. The plant is currently in the authorization phase with the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security. The offshore wind plant will significantly contribute to national targets for increasing renewable capacity and decarbonizing electricity production, potentially avoiding the emission of over 780,000 tons of CO2 per year. The agreement allows Edison to accelerate its growth in renewable energy and aims to increase the Group’s green capacity from 2 GW to 5 GW by 2030. Wind Energy Pozzallo does not have direct employees and will rely on the professional expertise of Edison and Blunova for the continuation of the authorization phase and for the execution of engineering studies.
