The rector of the University of Messina, Salvatore Cuzzocrea, is under investigation for allegedly receiving over two million euros in reimbursements between 2019 and this year. Paolo Todaro, a member of the academic senate and secretary of the university guild, has filed complaints with various authorities to investigate the legitimacy of the professor’s expenses. Cuzzocrea, who is also the President of the Italian Conference of Rectors, claims that the reimbursements are justified due to his extensive research activities, which have been recognized by prestigious institutions such as Stanford University.
