Death of Davide Currao, Palermo: photographer and activist who fought for the recovery of Sperone

Palermo and the entire Sperone neighborhood are mourning the death of Davide Currao, who passed away after an illness. He was a photographer, activist, and director, but he was also a man who dedicated himself to the community and the revitalization of the neighborhood. Currao was a member of Sperone 167, a collective that was founded for the care of the community. Davide was 46 years old and had a passion for photography from a young age, learning from his grandfather who was a photography enthusiast. He studied advertising techniques and later attended a photography school in Rome, expanding his skills from artistic photography to professional photography. His most memorable experience was working at the studio of the French photographer Severine Queyras. Two years ago, he directed a documentary titled Sperone 167. There has been an outpouring of condolences on social media. The funeral will be held on Monday at 10:30 am at the church of San Girolamo in Ficarazzi.
