Death of a tourist on Mount Etna hike

A hiking excursion on Mount Etna ended in tragedy for a 57-year-old French tourist. The woman had been on vacation in the Catania area for a few days and was near the cable car facilities at an altitude of 2,900 meters. The hike was organized with alpine guides accompanying her. She suddenly collapsed due to illness and was reported to have respiratory issues. Others present tried to assist her, but her condition quickly deteriorated. The emergency was called, and the 118 medical staff arrived on the scene to perform resuscitation maneuvers. However, all efforts were futile, and she was pronounced dead at the site.
