"Day of Remembrance", Palermo honors victims of Foibe: "Never justify crimes"
Mayor Leoluca Orlando took part this morning on behalf of the municipal administration at the memorial ceremony for the victims of the Foibe, on the occasion of the "Remembrance Day" held at the villa dedicated to the victims in via Bianchini (at Zen).
"We have a duty – said the mayor – not to forget and not to justify. As citizens and as public administrators we have a duty to never forget the victims of any violence, to never justify any crime committed against people guilty only of their nationality or language. As every year the municipal administration remembers and commemorates the victims of the Shoah, such as those of the concentration camps, such as those of the persecutions, cannot fail to commemorate with due respect those who were victims of persecutions only because of Italian nationality, because similar horrors never have to repeat themselves.
