Crowd of competitors, friends and family at the Antonio Sgammeglia Memorial in Canicattì.

The 2nd Trofeo Città dell’Uva Italia di Canicattì – Memorial Antonio Sgammeglia took place in Canicattì, Italy with a total of 276 participants (50 women and 226 men). The event, organized by ASD Marathon Canicattì, awarded the titles of Provincial Champion of Agrigento by Category. The race was held in memory of Antonio Sgammeglia, a dedicated athlete and member of Marathon Canicattì, who passed away on July 15th. His daughter, Elide, and brother, Adolfo, also participated in the race along with athletes from across the island to honor the value of sports and friendship. The top three male finishers in the 8km race were Dario Longo, Francesco Nucera, and Antonio Puccio. In the women’s category, Elide Sgammeglia, Elisai Cusumano, and Gisela Alaimo took the top three spots.
