Covid. The oldest vaccinated in Catania: 105 years old

Antonio Bonajuto, born in 1916, is the oldest of the Sicilians to have already received the anti-covid vaccine. Accompanied by his son Salvatore, he presented himself this afternoon at the vaccination center of the Polyclinic Rodolico in Catania where he was welcomed by all the management of the company led by the general manager Gaetano Sirna who stopped to talk with Antonio and his family.

«Even during the Spanish we were locked in the house – remembers Mr. Antonio – but now there is a vaccine against this virus and it is right to do it. During the war there were friends and enemies, here we all fight on the same side ».

These are the words of his story before entering the vaccination process. Precisely during the Second World War, Antonio Bonajuto served as an officer of the Royal Army, after 8 September he refused to collaborate with the Nazis, so he was deported to Germany. But Mr. Antonio is just one of the many elderly people who have presented themselves in the two vaccination points of the company in recent days. From Saturday 20, approximately 1,200 doses have been administered to over 80s, between Policlinico and San Marco, not a few if we consider that the time slot dedicated to them is only in the afternoon, in the morning we continue with the vaccinations of the university staff of the Faculties other than Medicine , in addition to reminders for those who have already received the first dose.
