Covid 19 office in Messina collects the vaccination request from the Islamic community. The doses will be administered on July 9th

Next Friday 9 July, health and administrative workers from the Covid 19 Office in Messina and the ASP will be at the headquarters of the Islamic Community in the city of the Strait in Villa Garufi, from 10 to 18, to administer vaccines without reservation. The request for vaccination was made a few days ago by the president of the Islamic Community Mohamed Refaat to the Covid 19 commissioner of Messina Alberto Firenze who immediately accepted it.

“We noticed from the Islamic community – explains Florence – that there has been a strong demand for vaccination in Messina for over 20 years, which we immediately satisfied. We will go to their Center on Friday 9 July to inoculate the vaccines. For their part, we record an important cultural and social gesture, which indicates perfect integration into our society and is a sign of great respect for others. On the part of the commissioner’s office there is the utmost willingness to collaborate with all religious communities, those belonging to any ethnicity or creed, so that the vaccination campaign can be quickly encouraged, in the direction already indicated by the regional councilor.

The Islamic Community commented: “vaccination is the winning weapon against Covid-19, even if it is often structured around the fear of the unknown, distrust in institutions, suspicion of experts and is amplified by the poison of disinformation. We are convinced of the absolute safety, reliability and efficacy of vaccines and therefore of the indispensability of their use.

The choice to carry out a vaccine day inside the Islamic Center will be the right opportunity to avert any doubt and uncertainty. Knowledge pays, trust must always accompany us, problems are faced, solutions are found, and today the solution is this: to open the doors of the mosque to be able to offer everyone the health vaccine. Getting vaccinated is a civic duty as well as a moral obligation. On the other hand, “Whoever saves his neighbor will be as if he had saved all of humanity”.
