Eugenio Corini restarts after Palermo and returns to the bench with Cremonese. The team’s performance is not considered up to season goals, so they asked Eugenio Corini to turn things around. The former Palermo and Brescia coach has accepted the challenge and embarks on a new adventure in the Serie B with the task of bringing Cremonese back among the top teams in the standings.

“I and my staff will give our best to bring Cremonese as high as possible,” were the first words of the Brescia coach. Corini has already seen the team against Spezia and then evaluated them through a first training session. “Cremonese has had a significant journey in which they narrowly missed promotion to Serie A, they started with high expectations and opponents often focus on the performance rather than the result to stop a team like them – Corini recalls -. I see the potential, even in games not rewarded by the result. I spoke with the players and told them that winning is not the only thing that matters, because it is achieved with character and determination: giving something more and struggling together. I see competitive players for this category but it is not enough yet, they need to recognize themselves in the team and feel the pressure to win which is stimulating and not oppressive.”

And on Palermo, Corini said that “we must adapt to the objectives set. In Palermo, we had to consolidate our status, then reach the playoffs and we did it. Here it seems clear to me what the main objective is.”

The inevitable question about the tactical aspect, one of the aspects that cost the predecessor Giovanni Stroppa his job: “From the outside, I have seen certain clear concepts and I respect Stroppa’s choices. I talk about a dynamic team, here I have a squad with many good characteristics, the ideal tactical structure is one that exploits the characteristics of everyone.”

Corini will debut against Juve Stabia but has met a group that is eager to succeed: “In terms of human values and technical characteristics, everything is here to do well. I will ask the boys to improve every day, it is not enough to just be good professionals. I want aggression and willingness to face situations, this is the point of improvement.”
