Theft of copper in a “Ciaculli” public lighting system in Palermo.
This morning (Thursday 14 July) the operators of Amg Energia intervened for the reactivation of the public substation damaged by unknown persons and which remained off on Wednesday evening (13 July) following a copper theft.

The cabin service operators discovered the theft during the routine reconnaissance carried out on the plants.
The alert was also triggered thanks to the calls arrived at the toll-free number dedicated to public lighting (800661199) which signaled the total shutdown of the systems in Ciaculli.

The intervening team found the damaged cabin and forced entry doors.
From a first reconnaissance, the theft would have involved some components and conductors of the systems that led to their shutdown.
The operators secured the cabin by deactivating it and the necessary activities were started to restore and power up the cabin.
The infrastructure will be up and running again tonight. The cabin powers the lighting systems in the area of via Ciaculli – Croce Verde and a section of via Gibilrossa, for a total of 254 light points.

“The works are in progress and will continue with the aim of reactivating the plants in the evening – underlines the vice president of the company, Domenico Macchiarella -.
As usual we are doing one recognition of the damage suffered by the structure and we will file a complaint.
I thank the citizens who reported the problem on Wednesday evening by calling our call center: a collaboration that helps us to better carry out our work in the service of the city “.
