Confiscated assets: widespread liability and missed opportunities. The meeting between Asaec and UniCt on critical issues and management models

After the greetings of the rector Francesco Priolo and the department director Roberto Cellini, will intervene: Carmelo Zuccaro, Attorney of the Republic of Catania; Bruno Corda, director of the National Agency for the administration and destination of assets seized and confiscated from organized crime; Claudio Fava, president of the regional commission of inquiry and supervision on the phenomenon of the mafia and corruption in Sicily; Maurizio Caserta, full professor of Political Economy a Unict; Nicola Grassi, president Asaec. The journalist, editor of the newspaper, moderates MeridioNews, Claudia Campese.

The meeting aims to investigate the age-old question of management of confiscated assets, of the further criticalities emerged, collected and reported also on the occasion of the participation in the announcement of the National Agency of confiscated and seized assets. During the debate, Unict will present the result of some research developed by the Department of Economics regarding the effects of reassignment of assets stolen from the mafias on the vote, the composition of the markets and the real estate value.

An important moment of confrontation that aspires to raise awareness and involve, on one side, the citizens as custodians of confiscated assets with a view to common goods and, on the other, institutions so that – starting from the requests and requests of associations and society – they can develop a model of strategic collaboration so as to make the confiscated assets a real opportunity e an instrument of social and cultural requalification of the territories.
