Colombian arrested in Catania for threatening neighbors and police with a knife

The Carabinieri of Catania arrested a 48-year-old man of Colombian origin for “aggravated threat and resistance to a Public Official” who yesterday, without an apparent reason, threatened the residents of a building in the historic center with a knife. Upon the arrival of the military, the man first began to shout and threaten to use the knives against them, then locked himself in his house, where he began to destroy everything, also throwing objects out of the windows.

At that point, after evacuating the residents of the building, the military intervened, surprising the 48-year-old man in the kitchen where he had placed 3 knives with 30 centimeter blades, a butcher’s cleaver, a hammer, and an iron chain on the table. Secured, the man was first examined by personnel from the 118 emergency service, then arrested and, at the request of the Judiciary Authority, which validated the arrest, transferred to the Catania Piazza Lanza prison.
