Cisl meets Forzinetti over closure of bingo halls in Palermo: “Hundreds of jobs at risk”
The meeting with the municipal councilor Giuliano Forzinetti to discuss the ordinance on the new opening hours of bingo halls, which has provoked the reaction of Fisascat Cisl, has ended. At first, the union had organized a sit-in of workers for this morning, but then the news of the meeting arrived and it was decided to wait for the outcome. “We have emphasized the potential impact on employment that the ordinance issued by the Municipality could have – explains Stefano Spitalieri, general secretary of Fisascat Cisl Palermo Trapani – since it affects the most crowded time slots for customers.” “We have stressed that, unlike the regulation of nightlife, – adds the union representative – the bingo halls are not where public order issues arise. On the contrary, in these productive realities there is a serious organization also regarding the delicate issue of security. This is why our city cannot afford another employment crisis.” At the end of the meeting, Spitalieri requested the convening of a joint table with the participation of workers, company representatives, and the councilor “to share a path that meets institutional needs but does not have repercussions on workers”.
