Chaos justice, protest to the court of Palermo: “no” displacement of judicial offices | BlogSicily

This morning fed protest sit-ins in the space in front of the new courthouse, in via Pagano in Palermo, to demonstrate against the transfer of the labor section, civil executions and the UNEP (court of appeal) from the “ex Eas” building to the premises in via Orsini (ex Riscossione Sicilia). To organize the mobilization the Coa of Palermo, the council of the bar association, which in recent days had decided to organize this event because it was convinced of the imminent inconvenience that would arise.

The President of the Coa: “Predictable chaos”

“The scenario that lies ahead – commented the president of the Coa, Antonello Armetta – is that of hundreds of people who will be forced to shuttle between opposite points of Palermo every day with easily predictable consequences: chaos of the hearings determined by concomitant commitments at the judicial citadel, an even more congested city and above all inconvenience for all lawyers and all operators and users of the justice system ”.

The membership was massive

Many took part in the protest this morning. A united front by the lawyers who embrace the thesis of the council of the bar on the inefficiencies that would occur.

The “ex Eas” offices affected by works until 2024

The judicial offices in the “Eas building” until 2024 will be affected by restoration and safety work in the premises in via Orsini, previously intended for the collection offices of Sicilia Spa. In recent days, the Coa had trusted in a “fruitful institutional dialogue with the President of the Court of Appeal and the President of the Court “. Through this comparison it is still hoped to achieve the common goal of maintaining all those offices that provide access to the public within the “Citadel”, possibly trying to displace any office that does not provide for the influx of lawyers in via Orsini and users.

Court already the scene of other initiatives

Last January at the court of Palermo there was another demonstration, in that case a flash mob of the honorary magistrates and justices of the peace of the capital. In those days, protests by honorary magistrates in service who asked for the regulation of their employment relationship and, consequently, the recognition of now inescapable rights, took place all over Sicily.
