A new seizure of drugs and cell phones has occurred in a Sicilian prison. Following the search in Enna, the penitentiary police found narcotics and phones inside the cells of the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto prison. Initial investigations suggest that they were smuggled into the prison during the prisoners’ designated sports activity hour, possibly thrown over the wall into a nearby countryside area. Further investigations are ongoing. Just two days ago, a similar incident occurred in Enna, where tensions arose between the agents and detainees during searches. The operation was triggered by the detection of individuals using a drone to deliver drugs into the prison. However, the investigations revealed much more, as searches were conducted not only within the prison but also in the homes of some detainees’ relatives. In fact, one of the detainees’ wives had even rented a house near the Enna prison.
