Cefalù dedicates square to victims of Nassiriya massacre

In Cefalù, Palermo, a ceremony was held to name a square next to the church of the Holy Spirit after the victims of the Nassiriya massacre. The event was attended by the provincial commander of Palermo, Brigadier General Luciano Magrini, the mayor of Cefalù, Daniele Tumminello, and the bishop of Cefalù, Monsignor Giuseppe Marciante, as well as other civil, military, and religious authorities, representatives of serving military personnel, the national association of carabinieri, and family members of the fallen vicebrigadier Domenico Intravaia. A commemorative plaque was unveiled, and a wreath was laid at the site with the names of the fallen. A container with sand from Nassiriya and a commemorative tile made by a student from Cefalù were also unveiled. The bishop blessed the site, and a moving prayer was offered by a carabinieri. The dedication, organized by the local carabinieri association and the municipal administration of Cefalù, is meant to symbolize fidelity and honor the values of the carabinieri in light of the sacrifice of the Nassiriya victims.
