Cavalleria rusticana in Tindari for the Stone Theater Festival

New appointment with the Opera Festival of the Stone Theaters on August 25 in Tindari. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the death of Giovanni Verga, tribute is paid to the great Sicilian writer with one of the works of strong emotional impact and imbued with spiritual mysticism composed by Pietro Mascagni, composer inextricably linked to the Etnean author: Cavalleria rusticana.

The Sicilian Lyric Choir, the promoter of the artistic and musical festival, intends to celebrate Verga’s anniversary with the work that gave the Tuscan author worldwide fame. A cast of undisputed artistic value will give voice to the realist masterpiece in one act: Sanja Anastasia, Serbian mezzo of international fame, will be Santuzza; the voice of the Georgian Armaz Darashvili will take on the role of Turiddu, while the baritone Andrea Borghini will give body to Alfio; the cast is completed by Camilla Antonini’s Lola and Yu Wang’s mother Lucia. The baton of Filippo Arlia, former principal conductor of the Opera Festival of the Stone Theaters, conducts the Calabrian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Sicilian Lyric Choir.

The gala event, which takes place in collaboration with the Tindari-Nebrodi inter-municipal Consortium, will also see the extraordinary participation of Domenico Gareri and the actor’s voice of Luca Ward who will lead on a journey into the Veghian short stories. .
