Catania’s Fatuzzo appointed as new commissioner for purification, Schifani protests lack of readiness.

Professor Fabio Fatuzzo has been appointed as the new extraordinary commissioner for wastewater treatment. This appointment was made by the President of the Council, following the decision of the Minister of European Affairs, Raffaele Fitto, and in agreement with the Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto. The commission also includes two new deputy commissioners, Salvatore Cordaro and Antonino Daffinà. The president of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani, expressed his disappointment with these appointments, as he believed that more qualified individuals should have been chosen. Nonetheless, Minister Pichetto expressed his support for Commissioner Fatuzzo and the new structure, emphasizing the importance of addressing the country’s wastewater issues to protect the environment and promote economic development. The minister also thanked the previous structure, led by Professor Maurizio Giugni, for their work.
