Catania: Two criminals arrested for drugs and resisting a public official

In Catania, the agents of the flying squad of Catania arrested a 30-year-old man, originally from Pachino, and a 41-year-old woman, resident of Catania, for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and resisting a public official. The two, both with previous convictions, did not stop at the police checkpoint in the San Cristoforo district, instead attempting to flee in a car.

After a chase through the city streets, the pursuit ended in Via Acquicella, where the couple was blocked by two other police cars. A search of the car led to the discovery of a purse containing 40 grams of cocaine divided into doses and 3 grams of marijuana. Additionally, a 14-centimeter switchblade knife was found in the glove compartment.

The drugs and the weapon were confiscated. The couple was arrested and taken to prison on the orders of the duty prosecutor, pending a hearing before the judge for validation. The 30-year-old was also reported for illegal possession of weapons.
