Catania: Runs out of gas, leaves dog in car for hours

A man in Catania ran out of gas and left his year-old Chihuahua, Ciccino, in the car for two to three hours while he went to find a gas station. The carabinieri found the trembling dog and were able to locate the owner, who was disoriented near his home. The owner explained that he had left the dog to guard the car while he went to get gas. The dog was found to be in good health but very scared, and was temporarily placed in a shelter while authorities checked on the owner’s ability to care for him.
