Last night in Catania, during a check at a risky gambling hall in the San Cristoforo neighborhood, some residents, including numerous women, surrounded, pushed, and attacked with kicks and punches some police officers who were trying to stop a man attempting to escape. The outcome was five police officers who had to resort to the emergency room at Garibaldi Centro Hospital. It happened on Stella Polare street. The officers then had to use pepper spray to disperse the crowd and had to call in the help of the carabinieri and the army. The man who had fled was caught and identified. Investigations are underway to determine the identity of the attackers.
