Catania launches cleaning plan in every area of the city

With the collection of over 4,500 tons of volcanic ash and the concurrent overcoming of the emergency phase, the councilor for ecology and the environment Massimo Pesce has prepared an integrated operational plan for cleaning up Catania. From Monday and in the following days, interventions will be carried out on the main arteries within the urban perimeter with an intensification of sweeping, weeding, and street washing services, covering all neighborhoods of the city, thanks to the operational support of the contracted companies Ecocar, Gema, and Supereco, but also of the municipal subsidiary Catania Multiservizi. “In reality, interventions have already been started in recent days – explained councilor Pesce – with teams of operators already working in Piazza Europa, Viale Africa, and Lungomare, with cleaning and greenery arrangement services, precisely in the areas where celebrations in honor of the Madonna Bambina are taking place these days. Now we will get into the heart of this cleaning plan that we have developed to restore decorum to every area of the city, an integrated action method that, with the collaboration of citizens, we hope to make ordinary in order to preventively counteract degradation and abandonment of every area.” With the resumption of school activities, finally, a plan for sweeping the ash will also involve city schools, starting from Lombardo Radice, Parini, Dante Alighieri, Coppola, Quirino Maiorana, Boggio Lera, and Diaz-Manzoni and others, according to the needs that will be reported.
