Catania: Gas station robbed using an excavator

A gang of robbers attacked the Petrol Company gas station on via Don Minzoni in the San Giovanni Galermo neighborhood of Catania last night. Around 2AM, the gang used an excavator to destroy and steal the self-service cash register before fleeing in other vehicles. Before the robbery, they had apparently blocked nearby streets with stolen cars and trucks. About ten vehicles were involved. Police arrived on the scene to find the blocked vehicles still there, but no witnesses came forward. They are now searching for surveillance footage to aid in their investigation.
