The Catania Police Headquarters, over the last weekend, ordered the strengthening of the controls aimed at verifying compliance with the anti Covid requirements. Particular attention was paid to the nightlife areas and those which, following an accurate analysis of the data held by UPGSP, are most critical in terms of mobility. The places involved include Piazza Risorgimento, Piazza Federico di Svevia, Viale M. Rapisardi, Piazza dei Martiri, Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII, Piazza Palestro.
During one of the checks carried out in Piazza Federico di Svevia, an individual was also denounced for the crimes of resistance to PU and aggravated damage to state assets.
The man who had been ordered to stop, first complied with the order, but when the operator approached the car to proceed with the check, he suddenly left again hitting him in the hand with the mirror. The impact caused the manual signaling device to fall from the policeman’s hands, which was damaged due to the subsequent passage of the same car on the run. The driver of the car, who was later found to be without a license, was tracked down to his home and identified and reported.
Also during the checks, one of the subjects arrested and sanctioned at the time of the check inveighed against the police officers and for this reason was referred to the AG for the crime of insult to PU.
There are a total of 14 sanctions issued for non-compliance with the anti-Covid legislation, of which 10 for non-compliance with the curfew, since the controlled subjects are out of their homes without justified reason, and no. 12 self-certifications.
