Catania, Cisl: “Too much irregularity in construction sites”

The article expresses strong concern about the lack of safety in construction sites in Catania, where workers are often found without adequate protection and companies operate outside the rules. The regional secretary of Filca Cisl Sicilia, Paolo D’Anca, and the provincial secretary of Filca Cisl Catania, Pippo Famiano, stress the importance of intensified checks and collaboration between institutions and social partners to protect workers’ lives and combat illegal practices in the sector. They also praise the recently adopted credit licensing system as an innovative tool to improve the construction industry and reduce the risk of accidents on site. However, they emphasize the need for dialogue with all stakeholders, including the Labor Inspectorate, to fully implement this system. The Filca Cisl of Catania is ready to play its part and collaborate actively to enhance workers’ rights and improve site safety. They hope the meeting with the Labor Inspectorate will initiate greater cooperation to ensure a safer, qualified, and law-abiding construction sector. The ultimate challenge is to instill a culture of safety, a goal that cannot be achieved by individual entrepreneurs or workers alone but requires collective effort.
