Castellammare del Golfo: Rock wall collapses on road to Zingaro, section of provincial road closed.

A landslide occurred on provincial road 63 in Castellammare del Golfo, in the province of Trapani, Italy. Large rocks detached from a cliff and fell onto the road pavement late on Sunday evening. Fortunately, no vehicles were present at the time, but authorities immediately raised the alarm to secure the area, as the existing safety measures proved inadequate. The mayor of Castellammare, Giuseppe Fausto, and firefighters inspected the site, confirming the risk of further rockfalls and leading to the closure of the road. Mayor Fausto announced that a section of the road leading to Zingaro will be off-limits, and visitors will have to access the tonnara and the surrounding area through the village of Scopello. Municipal and provincial workers, as well as the police and firefighters, responded to the incident. The road section will only reopen once safety operations are completed and the danger is eliminated.
