After stealing an excavator, he loaded it onto the bed of a stolen Iveco truck, taken from a construction site on the A/19 highway between Catania and Palermo. However, the plan went up in smoke: a young man was caught by the highway police in Siracusa and has been reported to the authorities.

He had taken the wheel of the heavy vehicle and, when confronted by the police, tried to escape by accelerating and trying to lose them. At that point, a chase ensued, until reaching the Cassibile exit, where the boy abandoned the truck and fled. However, he left his cell phone on the truck, which was later recovered by the officers, enabling them to identify and track down the suspect. He has been charged with handling stolen goods, violence, and resisting a public official. The stolen vehicles have been returned to their rightful owners. Investigations continue to identify the accomplices.
