The carabinieri of the Fontanarossa company, together with their colleagues from the XII “Sicily” Regiment and the NAS, carried out an extraordinary check of the territory in order to ensure compliance with the anti-covid legislation. Two sandwich shops located respectively in via Taormina and in piazzale Milicia were closed for 5 days, as both had allowed more than four people to sit at the tables, as required by the yellow zone in force in Sicily. The sanction of 400 euros was applied for each of the activities, reporting to the Prefect for the possible increase of the ancillary sanction. Also checked a restaurant with an adjoining ballroom in via Aldo Moro and a Bingo hall in via del Commercio, not finding any violations of the anti-covid rules. In the same context, 42 people were identified, 25 vehicles checked, detecting 9 violations to the rules of the highway code (vehicles without insurance coverage, driving without a license, failure to inspect the vehicle, failure to use a protective helmet). We then proceeded to 1 seizure and 4 administrative detentions. Finally, 18 people under house arrest were checked, ensuring their regular presence in their homes.
