Canicattì, party at IC Rapisardi for Children’s Rights Day and Kiwanis One Day

On November 21st and 25th, the KC Parnassus of Canicattì met the students of the IC “M. Rapisardi”, day 21, by videoconference, to celebrate the World Day of the Rights of the Child and Adolescence, on the 25th in presence, to commemorate Kiwanis One Day.

On the 21st, after the greetings of the president Rosalba Fiduccia, who briefly outlined Kiwanis’ commitment in favor of childhood, the teacher Gabriella Pugliese intervened and thanked Kiwanis for the opportunities it punctually offers to the school during the of the school year.

In front of the numerous classes connected remotely, the Lgt was the first to report. Governor of Division 6 Sicily, Alessandro Mauceri, who, after greetings from the Governor of the Italy-San Marino District, Salvatore Chianello, spoke, in his capacity as district chair of the CRC area, of the UN Convention and the rights of children, focusing on those denied and on the conditions of unaccompanied foreign minors. He also spoke of the CRC Group, a working group which includes many associations including Kiwanis and which is committed to defending the rights of the new generations.

The councilor for culture and the environment of the city of Canicattì, Lillo Ferrante Bannera, therefore intervened, always close to the activities of our club. Following, the report of the District Chair of the service “A club, a city, a guarantor” Epifanio Giuffrida, who spoke about the figure of the Child Guarantor. The meeting, which was also attended by some members of the club, ended with a goodbye in attendance to honor Kiwanis One Day with the planting of an olive tree, offered by the municipal administration.

In fact, on the 25th we met in attendance, welcomed by the teacher Carmelina Licata, in the hall of the institute, where the pupils of the kindergarten, primary and lower secondary schools, expertly prepared by their respective teachers, actively participated in the event with various performances. Posters, various drawings and readings on children’s rights, with background music (the institution is musical) preceded the planting of the olive tree, on which a sign was affixed with the slogan “One day, one tree , one coin”, “One day, one tree, one coin”, the slogan chosen by Governor Salvatore Chianello to ensure that, on the same day in which all the Kiwanis clubs in the world carry out a service activity, the clubs of the District Italy San Marino proceeded to plant one or more trees to raise awareness of environmental protection. “A coin” to optionally start a fundraiser in the classrooms with a piggy bank for the Kiwanis Children’s Fund, the foundation which, thanks to donations from Kiwanians from all over the world, carries out projects and works in favor of needy children.
