AstraZeneca reduces the supply of vaccines and in Sicily an attempt is made to expand the audience to the over 65s

AstraZeneca has announced that in the coming days it will reduce the supply of vaccines: 10 thousand doses less than the 26 thousand expected by Saturday. in the meantime in Sicily, the Region plans to expand the number of subjects to over 65s in April, so as to recover the advanced doses.

As reported in an article by Giacinto Pipitone in the Giornale di Sicilia on newsstands, on AstraZeneca the Region has been recording for days a constant number of waivers by those who had booked for the vaccine. In most cases due to fears related to the alleged effects of the drug.

The councilor has calculated that there will be a substantial surplus of vials that were intended for the over 70s: in the last few days there have been thousands of waivers. This is why today, in a meeting that Musumeci has convened in Catania – the newspaper anticipates -, it will be decided to expand the audience of vaccinable subjects by inserting a few thousand people in the age group between 65 and 69 years: they will be destined only vials of AstraZeneca.

Also today in Catania the Region will present a plan to multiply the vaccination centers and the staff involved in the administration: the goal is to increase daily vaccinations from 20,000 to 50,000.
