Asteroid named after Sicilian patron Antonio Presti

The Sicilian patron Antonio Presti has an asteroid named after him, the 20049. The asteroid was discovered on March 21, 1993, and is located in the Main Belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The proposal to name the asteroid after Presti was made by astrophysicist Mario Di Martino, who highlighted Presti’s cultural and social commitment. Presti, known for creating outdoor museums in Sicily, expressed his surprise and hope that the asteroid dedicated to him would help restore the vision of beauty in contemporary society.
