An aggression took place at the Policlinico of Messina. A man allegedly punched a nurse in the face in order to access the triage area where his son was located. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon. According to initial reports, the nurse was trying to calm the man down and enforce the emergency room rules, but the situation escalated into violence.

The last violent incident at the Policlinico of Messina occurred on March 16th, when police intervention was necessary to restrain a man who had become uncontrollable after regaining consciousness. In that case, the red code room was destroyed, and medical and computer equipment, medication cabinets, and other medical supplies were damaged.

The phenomenon of aggressions in hospital emergency rooms is a nationwide emergency in Italy, and in recent months, several police points have been set up in Sicilian hospitals.
