The controls of the carabinieri are intensified during the weekend in the seaside areas of Taormina and Giardini Naxos, also for the prevention and contrast of crimes connected with the summer nightlife and to limit gatherings in compliance with the anti-covid legislation. The soldiers of the Taormina Company with the support of the Special Departments of the Anti-Sophistication and Health Unit of Catania, of the Messina Labor Inspectorate Unit and of the soldiers of the Operational Intervention Company of the 12th Sicily Regiment, carried out numerous inspections on public premises, as a result of which they subjected a public establishment in Giardini Naxos to the temporary suspension of three days for violations of health and labor protection regulations, imposing penalties for a total amount of 10,000 euros against the owner. In particular, it was ascertained the presence of an illegal worker and the lack of traceability of over 5 kg of fish, meat and other foods. In addition, during the service in which more than 20 cars and over 50 people were checked, a 22-year-old and a 33-year-old were reported for drunk driving. The two, returning from an evening spent in Giardini Naxos, were stopped and checked with a breathalyser which recorded a blood alcohol level higher than that allowed. Therefore, they were deferred in a state of freedom with the consequent withdrawal of the driving license. Finally, three Chinese women were reported to the competent authorities because they were surprised on the beach of Isola Bella while practicing massages without any qualification and in violation of the provisions for the containment of covid-19.
